Sarah Wurst

My name is Sarah Wurst, and in 2021, I moved to Rock Springs, Wyoming, with my four kids, leaving behind Kansas City to start a new chapter. It was a big change, but one that has brought many exciting opportunities.

I graduated from Coastal Carolina University, where I earned degrees in Sport Management and Business Management. After college, I was fortunate to land my first job with Sporting Kansas City, an MLS team, where I gained valuable experience in the sports industry and developed my passion for both sports and business.

In 2023, I joined the Rock Springs Grizzlies as the Director of Business Operations at the team’s inception. It’s been an incredible experience watching the team grow, and when the opportunity arose to take on full ownership, my family and I decided to take the leap. I’m incredibly excited about what the future holds and proud to be part of a community that continues to support and grow the Grizzlies.

JACOB SMULEVITCH

JACOB SMULEVITCH

I grew up playing hockey in Indiana playing at HSE High School and then decided to go straight to college and attended Ball State University. In college I was the President of the Club Hockey team as well as a two year captain.

Following graduating with a degree in Sport Management I began scouting and doing analytics for the Des Moines Buccaneers in the USHL, primarily evaluating defensemen in the NAHL and BCHL. From there I transitioned to coaching coaching several years at the USPHL Premier level where I helped advance 10+ players to NCAA hockey as well as 10+ players to Tier 2. For the first part of this season I was the Head Coach of the Casper Warbirds in the NCDC.

I am very excited to begin working with the team and community of Rock Springs. Our team will be defined through our work ethic, details, and our mentality of Be Good People off the ice.

RYAN FREEMAN

I grew up playing hockey in North Carolina with the Carolina Jr. Canes and the Carolina Eagles. As I progressed with those teams and I became older, it was time for juniors.

I spent 2020 through 2023 in the USPHL. I played for the Carolina Jr. Canes, Richmond Generals, and the Columbia Infantry. I won the 2021-22 USPHL Elite National Championship with the Richmond Generals. After my age out season with the Infantry, I decided I wanted to get into coaching.

I accepted my first coaching opportunity with the Infantry for the 2023-24 season. After last season I was offered one of the assistant coach positions with the Warbirds in the NCDC. I was recently offered the assistant coach position with the Grizzlies and I felt that I couldn't turn it down.

I'm excited for this new opportunity with Rock Springs. We have a great team that has been playing well and we are striving to continue that success!

Jordan Naylor

Jordan Naylor is an accomplished goaltender with extensive experience in high-level hockey. Over four seasons with the BCHL’s Nanaimo Clippers, he distinguished himself by tying for 2nd all-time in single-season shutouts and achieving the 3rd best save percentage in league history.

His hockey career continued at Concordia University, where he competed for four more years, further refining his skills, and deepening his understanding of goaltending at the university level. Known for his keen ability to evaluate and develop goaltender talent, Jordan brings a strategic approach to identifying strengths and areas for improvement in netminders.

His deep expertise in the game positions him as a valuable asset in advancing goaltender performance.

TOM McEVAY

Tom McEvay is a Canadian, retired high school principal and has been involved in hockey his entire life.  Tom has shared his passion and knowledge on maintaining a healthy balance between hockey and education with young players, families, and coaches across the continent. Tom currently serves as the Educational Advisor for three BCHL Junior A hockey teams in Canada and has assisted hundreds of players in their pursuit of the NCAA or other college hockey programs.  He works with numerous hockey academies and has served as an Educational Consultant for BC Hockey and Hockey Canada. He is happy to assist Grizzly players whenever needed.
